NISA Gives New Localization Update for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

NIS America released a new blog update for the re-localization of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.

The update addresses the claims made by NISA president Takuro Yamashita about the localization of the game and how it didn’t reach the publisher’s expectations. To provide transparency on the matter, Senior Associate Producer Alan Costa has announced a blog series of updates about the status of the localization project.

For starters, the release date for the localization update as well as the PC version have been delayed indefinitely as Costa looks through the localization notes and addresses concerns. This is due to the scope of the project and the amount of work that is needed, which most likely includes sending assets back and forth between Japanese developer Falcom and NISA.

In the revision of the game, NISA will work on:

  • Reviewing and revising the translation with a new translator
  • A complete re-edit of the script (voiced and unvoiced) as well as corrections to item names and descriptions with a new editor
  • Voice re-recording
  • Debugging the new build

The publisher will also incorporate fan feedback into the build and will be sharing more details in a later update.

This news comes shortly after the studio revealed that Durante is on board to help with the PC version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.
