With the game selling over 3.5 million copies worldwide, the beloved NieR: Automata managed to become a sleeper hit worldwide thanks to its deep, emotional story, fast-paced and engaging combat, and an unusual narrative structure, and now those that missed out on playing the first time around seemingly will have another chance with all of its previously-released content, and maybe more.
Director Yoko Taro officially confirmed that NieR: Automata: Game of the YoRHa Edition will be on the horizon after details of the new version of the game had leaked a few weeks ago by the ESRB.
Naturally though, given that it is Yoko Taro, the director gave some cryptic hints involving random sets of numbers tied to the release date of the game originally in other regions, leaving the number “5211.” What that number means exactly is up to anyone’s guess, but the best guess we have is that the integers “521” relate to May 21, which could potentially point towards the release date for the Game of the YoRHa Edition. But then again, as it is Yoko Taro, it’s really anyone’s guess and he could just be trolling us.
As the subtitle notes, presumably the Game of the YoRHa Edition will act as a “Game of the Year Edition” that will include the original game plus all of its DLC, giving players a complete package of one of the best games of 2017.
NieR: Automata is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with the upcoming Game of the YoRHa Edition seemingly on the horizon in the near future.
