Today Bandai Namco released a large batch of beautiful screenshots of Level-5’s upcoming JRPG Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom.
Do keep in mind that since the press release was in Japanese, some names may differ from what we’ll see in the English translation.
We get to see three new location, the Labyrinth of Reigen, the Deep Abyss, and the Forest of Niru.
In the Labyrinth of Reigen there are many ruins, and a boss named Sea God Odis is waiting for Evan and his companions. It’s even the setting of a battle for skirmish mode.
The Forest of Niru is a giant wooded area inhabited by the Commorebi tribe. Its boss and guardian is Gomurem.
The Deep Abyss is an enormous cave found at the bottom of the sea. Normally, its entrance is sealed by a giant whirlpool, and it’s said that humans don’t have the power to reach its deepest areas. Yet, by borrowing the power of the Funa, it’s possible to dive all the way down. Hidden in the Abyss, Evan will find Toraranaga, guarding the power of Shirazarakan.
We also get to learn more about the species that classify the monsters in the game. There are six main species, which are Kachin, Gunyar, Nature, Dragora, Fairy, and Ajin.
Kachin are monsters the body of which is made of stone or metal, Gunyar are jelly-like monsters, Nature resemble plants or animals, Dragora are dragons, Fairy are magical monsters, and Ajin are humanoid monsters. Each species is represented by an icon that can be seen to the left of a monster’s life bar, and that’s a good reference to decide which tactics to use.
Another aspect of the game showcased by the screenshots is old man Tsubakuro. He will be found in our city in Kingdom Mode, and he will give us Tsubakuro Quests. By completing them there is a chance that those who requested the favor will become citizens of our town.
New quests open up as the story progresses, and they also award Tsubakuro Coins, which can be used to acquire valuable items.
Last, but not least, we see more unique higgledies that we can unlock during our adventure.

We recently learned that Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom has gone gold, and it will release for PS4 and PC on March 23rd, 2018.
