New Image of Rocket League Running in Handheld Mode on Switch Emerges Out of PAX West

PAX West is in full swing this weekend and Psyonix’s hit game Rocket League is there in a big way.

Twitter user Ed Penn released an image of the game running on what is definitely a Nintendo Switch console. This is the first time we have ever seen the game being played in handheld mode on the Switch, even though the image is only viewing someone playing from the side.

As you can see it definitely looks like Rocket League and I cannot wait to get my hands on it for on-the-go play. Psyonix also recently revealed that they’ll be adding cars based on Mario, Luigi, and Samus Aran. I’m patiently awaiting the inevitable toppers, decals, and other things we may get that are based on more of Nintendo’s IP, fingers crossed for a Kirby or Pikmin topper.

In other Rocket League news, the developer announced that big changes would be coming to some controversial maps in competitive play with season six. Also, the team is adding an optional transparency feature for goalposts and some parts of the walls in-game, and as of August 2nd, the game hit 34 million players.

Rocket League is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. It’ll be available on Nintendo Switch sometime during Holiday 2017.
