Recently, PlayStation has released quite a few videos for God of War while gearing up for its release at the end of April. The most recent video features the game’s developers going behind the scenes of Kratos’ Leviathan axe.
In the video, creative director Cory Barlog emphasizes how iconic blades are to the series, and had originally pitched the idea of Kratos being able to launch an axe at his enemies. The video shows that players will not only be able to throw Kratos’ axe, but they will also be able to call it back to his hand. This seems to be definitely inspired by the Norse god Thor, and his ability to call back his hammer Mjölnir. With this latest installment in the God of War series having roots in Norse mythology and not Greek like previous games, it fits with the lore’s inspiration of the game.
God of War has already gone gold ahead of its April 20th release. It will be released exclusively for PS4. You can check out the video featuring Kratos’ Levithan axe below. You can also view videos focused on the lore that inspired God of War as well as an awesome TV commercial for the game.
