Today the Japanese arm of Square Enix detailed with a press release the “Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition – Farewell Story Exhibition -” which will be hosted from January 22nd to February 28th at the Mori Art Center Gallery in the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo.

The Exhibition will be presented in partnership with Sony and a few other companies, and it will be a large retrospective showcasing the thirty years of history of Final Fantasy.

The title of the exhibition comes from the fact that it’ll feature a variety of “farewells” delivered via a “voice augmented reality system” that will be provided to each visitor. Character voices and music will be syncronized with the display as visitors explore the display space.

About fifty songs from the series will also be included, alongside scenes from various games of the series.

What’s even more interesting, is that original scenarios have been created for Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy VII.

The exhibition for Final Fantasy VII will be titled “Words Left Behind by Aerith.” It will let visitors explore the iconic church in Sector 5, while listening to Aerith’s memories. It will include “image boards” from the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake shown in Japan for the first time. The scenario has been written directly by Kazushige Nojima with voice acting provided by Maaya Sakamoto herself.

The display for Final Fantasy XV is titled “Phantom Wedding,” and if you have not played the game don’t read the following paragraph, because it includes spoilers. Also, don’t watch the last two pictures in the gallery (stop when you see the big Final Fantasy logo)

It focuses on the wedding ceremony between Noctis and Luna showcased in the last scene of the game, and it features Regis, Prompto, Gladiolus, and Ignis as they speak gentle words of congratulations to the groom and bride.

Believe me or not, writing this and imagining it just made me cry. I can’t even imagine how I would feel actually listening to it.

On top of the exhibition, there will also be plenty of merchandising available, and a special themed menu at the cafe “The Sun,” which can be found on the same floor at the Mori Tower.

Below you can check out a few images provided with the announcement. Earlier today, we read that the development of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is reportedly going well. If you want to learn more about Final Fantasy XV, you can read our review.
