Golden Week marks the time in which the Japanese finally relax for a week after months of toiling at work, and for many, it’s the first taste of the summer, as Okinawa or even Hawaii are popular destinations. Many free-to-play games celebrate the holiday period with lavish events, and DMM’s Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier is no exception.
We actually get two separate events. The first is the revival of the latest summer event, aptly titled “Summer Festival 2018 Version.” This one is great for players who have just started, as they can grab multiple good free pilots.
Just by dropping rainbow chests during the missions or accumulating points, you can unlock Speed-type SSR Inia Sestina and Lyse Hohenstein, and both are very good pilots that can form the backbone of a team. Dropping golden chest will also grant multiple SR pilots, Meiya Mitsurugi, Marimo Jinguji, and Kasumi Yashiro. Incidentally, this Kasumi is a quite good CP (command post operator) if you don’t have a speed-type SSR one, so she is very convenient for people who are just starting out.
The related gacha gives you a chance to get bikini-type SSR Irisdina Bernhard, Cui Yifei, and Mitsurugi Meiya, on top of an SR CP Yuuko Kozuki who is worth it even just for her trademark killer bikini.
Yet, that’s only the tip of the iceberg, as the second event, which will actually last until May 10th, and is titled GW Boss Rush, throws at you an endless stream of bosses, and each rainbow chest you drop is a powerful SSR Despair-type A-6 Intruder Tactical Surface Attacker. Drops have also a massive rate for skill upgrade tokens up to 100%, which are extremely useful and quite rare.
The clincher, though, is that for the whole duration of the event, pilot affection rate is multiplied by ten times, skill upgrade chance is multiplied by two (which is extremely effective combined with the token drop rate), and stamina consumption is split in half.
Incidentally, Iyo Daikuuji won the Idol competition last week, and “something” about her will be released on May 10th. At the moment, there is no information on what it is.
The synergy between those events is massive because you can keep dropping pilots and bring their affection to five hearts effortlessly, which in turn gives you free gems that you can use for the gacha with gleeful abandon.
