As expected, Monster Hunter World is still selling like hotcakes, or hot ramen bowls, since it’s the Japanese winter. It’s also pushing PS4, that sold 109,287 units in a week and is now at 6,329,833 units sold.
Dragon Ball FighterZ may also have contributed to PS4 sales, with a pretty solid launch counting almost 70,000 units.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see how long the Monster Hunter World momentum will last, but for now, it certainly seems poised to reach at least two million units on the Japanese market, if it already hasn’t considering that Media Create doesn’t count digital sales.
Next week should also be a rather solid one for Sony’s console, considering the launch of Shadow of the Colossus.
Interestingly, we keep seeing a bit of an apparent effect of the release of large franchises for PS4 on sales of Switch games. Last week Monster Hunter XX reappeared on the chart and it remained there this week, and we also see Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 resurfacing. This probably is probably due partly to Switch owners getting the next best thing for their console, or owners of both consoles who want to keep playing the same franchise on the go.
