The events leading up to the launch of Metro Exodus just keep coming. The other day it was revealed that the PC version would be pulled from Steam and instead made a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store. However, since that news players haven’t been happy, and as a result, the previous Metro titles have been review-bombed.
Review bombing is the process of a large number of people negatively scoring a title in a bid to harm the sales or popularity of the product. This is done by changing the positive and negative reviews ratio. Ideally, what review bombers want is for potential customers to come looking for their next purchase, see the negative results and decide not to spend their money.
The review bombing has taken place after the shift to the Epic Games Store was announced, and has resulted in Metro 2033 Redux, and Metro 2033: Last Light Redux amassing over 1,000 negative reviews per title. It’s also confirmed to be related to the exclusivity shift by the context of the reviews being made.
Here’s a look at some of the negative comments being posted, bearing in mind I’m only nabbing a few, and others are rather heated.
“Not supporting Deep Silver anymore, removing exodus from steam is a

“Bring back Metro Series to Steam or take off the entire franchise from steam!”

“I love Metro for being a true successor of Stalker series. I do love 4AGames for their contribution to the development of the Ukrainian gaming market.However the decision to sell Metro Exodus only in Epic Games Store was a very bad and dumb move from Koch Media.”
You get the picture, people aren’t happy about it. However, there are positive reviews popping up in an attempt to soften the negative blows the older titles are getting. Some of these positive comments also don’t agree with Metro Exodus being taken from Steam but don’t believe review bombing is fair.
“This game is amazing, it’s sad to see people review bombing such a great game just because they do not agree with the developers decision to put Metro Exodus on the Epic Game Store. “
“The game is good and review bombing is stupid. I agree that Exodus should be on Steam, but you guys are acting like children.”
“This is a fantastic game that doesn’t deserve to be review bombed.”
At the time of writing, today alone has seen Metro 2033 Redux gain 533 negative reviews, and Metro 2033: Last Light Redux gain 490 negative reviews.
It has been confirmed that Epic Games plans to honor Steam pre-orders prior to the news, allowing those who pre-ordered on Steam to still receive the game and any future DLC. The shift to the Epic Games Store has also resulted in it being priced lower for those wanting to buy it from there.
Epic Games are doing well for themselves in terms of nabbing games for their service with The Division 2, Metro Exodus,Maneater, and even Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Dauntless making their way onto the digital store. Today we also learned that is also making the shift over, killing off their standalone launcher later this year.
Metro Exodus is slated to launch February 15 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
