Madden NFL 18 released back in August on PS4 and Xbox One and was one of the best entries in yearly series in quite a while. The Xbox One X, on the other hand, launched yesterday after more than a year of anticipation from Microsoft fans. Tons of games are enhanced for the system, and one of these titles is Madden NFL 18 from EA Tiburon.
In a recent interview on Xbox Wire, Seth Christie, the Technical Director of Madden NFL 18, detailed what exactly the game’s enhancements on Xbox One X are. The game can be played in 4K and run at a consistent 60FPS when played on an Xbox One X. When asked how this impacts the gaming experience, Seth had the following to say:
“As mentioned above, the visuals are improved due to 4K Ultra HD support and the performance is improved due to constant 60 FPS across the gameplay experience. When you combine 4K Ultra HD, constant 60 fps with additional enhancements such as an increased level of camera detail, you’ll immediately notice and feel a difference in the immersion. This means that elements such as the player’s helmet and faces become more realistic –giving you the feeling that you are right there in the stadium.”
He also reveals that the developers really focused on those two areas when developing the update, as they are the most notable visual upgrades that can be made to a game, making Madden NFL 18 look closer to an actual NFL game broadcast. The powerful GPU allowed the developers to do this, and Seth says he thinks that there is “still room to improve the experience in the coming years.”
Finally, when asked how 4K and HDR will influence future titles from EA, Seth Christie seemed to have an optimistic feeling for future games from his studio:
“We are now able to deliver vibrant, detailed visuals only previously imagined by our team. Our games will continue taking advantage of these technologies to deliver realistic experiences into our fans’ living rooms.”
