On September 28, Square Enix announced a live stream for the 26th anniversary of SNES JRPG Live A Live. The stream will feature Live A Live Director Takashi Tokita, Composer Yoko Shimomura, Battle Director Nobuyuki Inoue, Character Pixel Art Illustrator Kazuyuki Kurashima, and Nobuo from comedy duo Penguins.

The stream (YouTube) will start on October 3 at 2000 JST / 0700 ET (Click here for a time conversion table). Square Enix said the stream is two hours long.

It’s worth noting Square Enix recently trademarked Live a Live in Australia, and in the European Union, hinting at new developments.

Over on Twitter, Takashi Tokita also teased a Live A Live surprise project:

Takashi Tokita: “The Live a Live 26th anniversary stream got announced! It’ll feature Composer Yoko Shimomura, Battle Director Nobuyuki Inoue, Pixel Art Illustrator Kazuyuki Kurashima, stream sommelier Nobuo and myself. We’re preparing a surprise project that will make everyone excited! This Fall, will I be involved in that world again…?”

On April 7, 2017, Takashi Tokita also teased he was starting a “Super secret project” and implied it’s Nintendo Switch related. (Thanks Game’s Talk for pointing it out).

It’s possible Square Enix will announce a new Live A Live game project, like a remake, a remaster, a sequel, etc. Usually, with the way how Japanese games’ anniversary streams goes though, it’s likely Square Enix at first will announce a “Live A Live 26th anniversary project”. Which will include many new developments and events, like an anniversary logo and artwork, new goods, a live concert, a collab café. And a game project, which would be detailed later on.

Note that more members of the Live A Live development team shared their excitement for the stream on Twitter. We’ll update this article shortly with translations of their comments.

We actually watch Japanese live streams on DualShockers and write summaries for each. So you can be sure that besides whatever gets announced there, we’ll also have juicy details and fun comments from the Live A Live team. Stay tuned.
