You’ve already heard the news, Epic is adding the various Kingdom Hearts collection games on its Epic Games Store, bringing Square Enix and Disney’s legendary JRPG series to PC, and possibly trigger a change in the plays of the KH speedrun scene.
Epic Games Store listed four Kingdom Hearts releases in total.
First, we have Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX. Containing Kingdom Hearts I Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and the cutscenes from 358/2 Days and Re:Coded. That’s three games and some summaries for $50.
Secondly, we have Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Containing Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD, the extremely short DLC-like game featuring the best KH protagonist: Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary passage -, and the movie χ Back Cover. That’s basically one game and a movie for $60.
Thirdly, we have Kingdom Hearts III and its Re Mind DLC, for another $60.
Lastly, the latest game in the series, Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, will be sold for 60 dollars.
In total, all of Kingdom Hearts will be available on Epic Games Store starting March 30, 2021, for $230.
Kingdom Hearts on PC is incredibly expensive compared to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the games, and there’s virtually no reason to grab these, unless you’re in the speedrun scene.
#KingdomHearts is coming to PC via the Epic Games Store for the first time ever on March 30th!

While we don’t know yet the specifics of Kingdom Hearts and PC and what kind of changes could benefit the speedrun scene, many players are already dreaming of finally being able to skip certain cutscenes. Like Utada Hikaru’s Simple and Clean in KHI.
It’s also worth mentioning PC ports can sometimes go particularly awry when it comes to optimization and performance. These are aspects of Kingdom Hearts on PC very important for speedrun, and we’ll only know when the games are out.
At the end of the day, I personally wouldn’t suggest preordering the games, and it’s best to pick the wait and see approach.
Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura has been teasing new developments since the announcement of Melody of Memory in June 2020.
After KH: MoM released, Nomura also teased how an hypothetical PS5, Xbox Series X Kingdom Hearts game would be “very surprising ” for the fans. Nomura also teased developments for the KH series 20th anniversary in 2022.
Lastly, Tetsuya Nomura recently shared a new story regarding a canceled PS3 Kingdom Hearts game.
