Kerbal Space Program 2 was somewhat surprisingly announced back at Gamescom 2019. The sequel to the fan-favorite space flight simulator looks to add tons of new content to the classic KSP gameplay. It was originally set to launch this year, but, as with many things, COVID-19 has forced the team to delay KSP2 until Fall 2021. The full announcement can be seen below.

The Kerbal Space Program 2 delay isn’t a surprising one. In fact, you wouldn’t be crazy to assume we’re going to be getting quite a few of these over the coming weeks and months. With everyone forced to work from home, this is an inevitability. There’s also the factor of any game with a physical release facing potential setbacks at the factories that create the discs, though that likely doesn’t factor in here.
That being said, you still have to feel for fans of games that get delayed. Of course, it’s important to keep in mind that delaying a game is better than rushing it to release. So, while pushing the date back by about a year should be a good thing in the long term. If nothing else, it gives them plenty of time to get those new colonies working as best as they can.
Fortunately, there’s still plenty to do in the first Kerbal Space Program. Developer Squad continues to work on its original game, releasing a new update back in February. With so much to enjoy over there, the wait for KSP2 should fly by.
Kerbal Space Program 2 launches onto PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Fall 2020. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X in the near future as well. Be sure to stay with DualShockers for all your Kerbal needs.
