If you’re excited for The Witcher Netflix series, get ready. The first look of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia has been revealed.
Revealed via the official Netflix US Twitter, the makeup and costume test footage shows Cavill walking towards a camera sporting a long white mane and leather outfit akin to what Geralt sports in The Witcher game. He then stops giving us a good look at his bright orange eyes and takes a sip from a vial which is presumably one of the many consumables Geralt uses in the game.

If you ask me, Cavill looks a bit too pretty to be Geralt of Rivia. When I played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Geralt was a grizzly monster killer that did whatever he wanted. Cavill’s Geralt is giving Orlando Bloom’s Legolas a run for his money when it comes to his looks. He also appears to not have the scar over his left eye which may be a contributing factor.
According to ScreenRant, Netflix also announced more cast members including Eamon Farren (as Cahir), Joey Batey (as Jaskier), Lars Mikkelsen (as Stregobor), Royce Pierreson (as Istredd), Maciej Musial (as Sir Lazlo), Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (as Dara), and Anna Shaffer (as Triss) will all join Cavill in the upcoming series. Previously announced cast members include Freya Allan (as Ciri), Anya Chalotra (as Yennefer), Jodhu May (as Calanthe), Björn Hylnur Haraldsson (as Eist), Adam Levy (as Mousesack), MyAnna Buring (as Tissaia), Mimi Ndiweni (as Fringilla), Therica Wilson-Read (as Sabrina), and Millie Brady (as Renfri).
The Witcher Netflix series — which is based on the Andrzej Sapkowski book series — was revealed last year with very little information. In April of this year, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich gave a bit more info about the project saying it will have a total of eight episodes and would possibly premiere in 2020. In September, it was revealed that Henry Cavill — who had previously stated to IGN he was interested in playing Geralt — would indeed be playing the main protagonist. The show will be written by Jenny Klein (Daredevil, Jessica Jones), as well as Sneha Koorse (The Americans), and Beau DeMayo (The Originals).
The Witcher Netflix series is scheduled to premiere in 2019. If you have roughly 100 hours or so to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all of its DLC, it’s available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
