Early in October, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice developer Ninja Theory announced that it would be celebrating World Mental Health Day by donating all of the game’s proceeds collected on the day (October 10). We now know the extent of that campaign’s efforts.
Today, Ninja Theory announced that £60,798.80 (about $80,000) was donated to Rethink Mental Illness, an organization that specializes in supporting those who suffer from mental illness by campaigning to change the public’s perspective on the topic, as well as to provide services to those who directly suffer from it.
About the donation effort, Ninja Theory Co-Founder and Chief Creative Ninja Tameem Antoniades commented on the Hellblade community’s dedication to the campaign and extended gratitude for it.
“We’re proud of our fans for showing their kindness towards others who, like our hero Senua, need our help and support to continue the good fight. Our donation to Rethink Mental Illness will impact many people’s lives in a meaningful way and help shed light on their darkness. Our small gesture has made a big difference. Thank you.”
Rethink Mental Illness also responded to the news, indicating precisely how it has positively affected the organization.
“Your generous donation will make a big difference to the work that we do here at Rethink Mental Illness. The donation is the equivalent of employing two of our full-time colleagues to answer calls to our advice and information line, helping people newly diagnosed with mental illness get more information and support – which is fantastic.”
