Earlier today, Treyarch activated the first Double XP weekend for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, ushering in what’s sure to be a long season of bonus content. While most people would see the icon and simply keep on playing without a care in the world, there are some people, like myself, who take this opportunity to try and boost their levels as much as they can before the bonus is over. I’ve put together a few tips that should help you earn the most experience this weekend.

1) Avoid Blackout and Zombies

While this may seem like a no-brainer (no pun intended), some people might assume that because double XP has been activated for the standard multiplayer, that it’s been activated for all modes, and that’s simply not true. While zombies players ARE currently enjoying double Nebulium Plasma (the currency used in that mode), double XP is ONLY active in the normal multiplayer modes. This means Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Free-for-all, and all of the other modes found in the “Standard” and “Hardcore” playlists will all net you double XP. That being said, not all modes are made equal.

2) Focus More on Objective Game Modes

While Call of Duty games are pretty much known for their high body counts and twitch based combat, shooting isn’t everything. In fact, if you’re going for XP, objective type game modes like Domination, Search and Destroy, and more will generally net you more XP per match since you’ll be spending a lot of time capturing points, holding down areas, etc.

3) Use Either the COMSEC Device or Body Armor for Your Gear

This final tip all comes down to personal preference. If you’re more of a beginner, then you’ll probably want to stick to the Body Armor for your Gear. This will allow you to absorb a few extra shots to you can win critical gunfights, which in turn will keep you alive for longer and give you a higher chance to earn more XP with kills and objective captures.

If you are more experienced, however, and you aren’t worried about each little gunfight, then you should have the COMSEC Device in your Gear slot. Having the ability to earn killstreaks at a lower cost can come in handy, especially since certain streaks can net you a ton of XP, like the Hellstorm Missile.

If you haven’t been able to get your hands on a copy of Black Ops 4 yet, be sure to pick it up on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, simply by clicking here.
