GRID Autosport is a Codemasters game all about racing, taking muscle cars to the mountains, Formula cars to the tracks, and more. It originally launched on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 and was later ported to iOS devices.
While the press release states that there will be a “range of driving disciplines” we should expect to see players taking part in five different disciplines: Touring Cars, Endurance, Drift, Open-Wheel and Street Races. GRID Autosport takes players to various locations to put their foot down, with the official website stating that the original title brought players over one-hundred routes across twenty-two locations.
The titles handling recreates the feel of driving while mixing arcade racing and simulation handling. The iOS devices utilized tilt control allowing players to steer by tilting the phone, so I imagine the Switch version will allow players to steer their vehicles with the Joy-Con’s, perhaps even the console itself.
While there’s no word on this, the original GRID Autosport that launched in 2014 ended up with DLC later added to it. When it was ported to iOS devices in 2017 players got the game and all content plus DLC. I would imagine that when the title launches for Nintendo Switch players will also get all the previous content included. You can watch the announcement trailer below. We should hear more details at a later date.
GRID Autosport will be available on Nintendo Switch sometime next year.
