Brazilian indie developer Flux Game Studio revealed that its gruesome fighting game GUTS, which is short for Gory Ultimate Tournament Show, will launch on PC on October 31. In addition, a free demo has been released on the game’s Steam page so players can try it out early and even unlock in-game items.
For those of you who don’t know, GUTS is a fighting game that drops certain genre conventions like the health bar and timer; instead, the game tasks players with chopping off the limbs of their opponent with special GUTS Moves until they win the match. The game has nine different fighters and a special mode where the environment can also chop off players limbs.
As for modes, GUTS has both local and online multiplayer, and a single-player story mode, which has eighteen different endings as there are two for each character. Those who play the demo with specifically unlock in-game weapon skins, profile ribbons and more when the game launches in October.
Paulo Santos, Founder of Flux Game Studio, had the following to say about GUTS’ accessibility:
“GUTS may sound difficult to play because of its limb-chopping gameplay, but the title actually has a low barrier to entrance thanks to our dual-layered combo system that lets new players button mash with success, while also allowing hardcore players to perform amazing combos and difficult move sets.
With GUTS you don’t need to memorize a manual to learn the inputs, which makes the game easy to pick up and entertaining for all to play. Additionally, our comeback mechanic allows for even more fun because it keeps matches close until the end.”
You can check out a new trailer that highlights the demo below. GUTS will be available to purchase for $19.99 on PC this Halloween.
