Cory Barlog is set to deliver the opening “Storytime” keynote at PAX South at San Antonio in what will be the events fifth year running.
Jerry Holkins, the co-founder of Penny Arcade had this to say about Cory Barlog attending the event in 2019,
“Doing a sequel to a beloved game is a unique challenge, and so is rebooting a franchise for a modern audience – Cory Barlog has done both,”
“We’re overjoyed to have him join us at PAX South. If I get the chance, I’m gonna tell him about this place I know in San Antonio where they make the guacamole with Orange Juice instead of Lime. It sounds crazy, but it works.”
Barlog has been with Sony since 2003, working as a lead animator on the original God of War that launched in 2005. He won a BAFTA in writing for the sequel God of War II, a title he also directed. After years of working on other titles for the God of War franchise, Barlog left Sony to work at LucasArts, Crystal Dynamics, and other studios. Eventually, he found himself returning in 2013 to create the latest God of War.
Those familiar with Sony Santa Monica Studio’s God of War title that launched in 2018 might also recall the Game Director creating a reaction video to reviews for the PS4 exclusive. Cory Barlog also sent out a message to fans of the title thanking them.
Tickets for PAX South are available now with three-day badges costing $85, and single-day badges at $42. It’ll be taking place on January 18th-20th at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Centre in San Antonio, Texas.
