The big question on the minds of many today is whether or not Sony is set to divulge any information about the forthcoming PS5 during its CES press conference later tonight. Considering one key figure from one of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s most prominent studios is set to attend the event, many have started running all the more rampant with speculation about a PS5 reveal.
Over on Twitter, God of War director and SIE Santa Monica Studio employee Cory Barlog has made it clear that he’ll be present at CES 2020. As of today, Barlog has even shown pictures of his journey to Las Vegas for CES, sharing photos of himself in town for the event.
With rumors of the PS5 potentially being shown at CES today, Barlog’s presence in town for the event has made many think that the likelihood of such a console reveal is even more possible. Since releasing God of War in 2018, Barlog has become one of the most iconic developers associated with the PlayStation brand. It’s not unfounded for some fans to immediately jump to conclusions that Barlog could somehow be associated with Sony’s presentation tonight.

That said, I do have reservations about this notion. For starters, if a PS5 reveal was to happen and Barlog was to somehow play a part in what Sony wanted to show, he’d likely be much more secretive about his presence in Las Vegas. Sony typically likes to play things close to their chest, and as such, likely wouldn’t want Barlog making it so clear that he was going to be at CES 2020 or else fans would do what they’ve already done and connect the dots. It’s also just possible that Barlog is attending CES for fun and has nothing to do whatsoever with whatever Sony wants to talk about.
Sony’s CES 2020 press conference is set to occur later tonight at 8pm EST/5pm PST. If anything noteworthy does come from the presentation, we’ll let you know here on DualShockers.
