Earlier this week, Ubisoft confirmed that they’d be revealing a Ghost Recon related title during a livestream today. Now, we officially know what that game will be called. The next installment in the long-running shooter franchise will be titled Ghost Recon Breakpoint and you can check out the game’s official reveal trailer below.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint will have you and a squad of three other Ghosts take on the Wolves. The Wolves are a pack of ex-Ghosts led by Jon Bernthal’s character, Cole D. Walker, who appears to have been a close friend of the main character of the game at one point in the past. Ubisoft actually gave fans their first look at Bernthal’s character in a recent preview update to Ghost Recon Wildlands.
At launch, the game will include both PVE and PVP content that can be played alone or with others. Additionally, all progression made between each mode will carry over into other modes, allowing you to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint however you’d like. Players can also collect loot and customize their characters to really control their own play style.
Whereas the last game took place in Bolivia, this title will take place in an entirely new location called Auroa, which is quite unique when compared to the previous entry. Ghost Recon Breakpoint’s new island setting will contain forests, beaches, snowy mountains, a volcano, and much more. Cole D. Walker and his Wolves take control of Auroa due to it being the main center for the world’s drone manufacturer. With Walker and his unit being in control of this technology, it’s up to the Ghosts to take him down and prevent Walker from utilizing the drones.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint will launch on October 4 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on the game, stayed tuned to read our hands-on impressions soon.
