Following the Chinese servers, the official Genshin Impact Discord started on April 14 the English Application for the Ver 1.6 Beta Test – Right when the Ver 1.5 Beta Test started in March, tons of content was leaked, but will history repeat itself?
How to apply to the Genshin Impact 1.6 Beta Test
First, be sure to join the Genshin Impact official Discord. This is mandatory. Next, you can apply through the Google form here. The deadline to apply to the Genshin Impact 1.6 Beta Test is Sunday, April 18th at 23:59 PM GMT+8. Which converts to 11:59 AM ET / 08:59 AM PT / 17:00 GMT. Click here for a conversion to other time zones.
However, personally, I’d add that if your sole reason for applying is to see what comes next, you might want to reconsider. Especially if you know you won’t be able to keep yourself from sharing details. As that’s strictly forbidden and can lend you in legal trouble. You’re not signing a Non Disclosure Agreement as a joke.
Applying for the Beta means helping out checking the game’s content and actually testing said content. And keeping quiet about it. You should think of it as volunteering.
When will we get leaks from the 1.6 Beta? Will there even be leaks?
First, it’s important to note that most, if not all Genshin Impact leaks, come from two sources, Tieba forum users who possibly have ties with miHoYo, and data miners. It’s very rare for the source of a leak to actually be a private beta player, especially seeing those who did so were caught in the past.
However, with what happened with Ver 1.5, and how data miners managed to access and leak its contents before the beta test even began, it’s likely miHoYo will be, understandably, more vigilant than ever. We might not see as many leaks for Genshin Impact 1.6. Which I, personally speaking, don’t believe is a bad thing.

As we explained several times in the past: even if something gets data mined and is actually in a specific version of the beta, say 1.6. Nothing guarantees miHoYo will include the same content in the official release of said version. At the end of the day, every leak is just wishful thinking.
Genshin Ver 1.6 – What to expect then?
Moreover, this seems truer than ever. Seeing one of the Chinese leakers claimed miHoYo completely changed its plans. miHoYo has several teams, each working on different content. So it’s not surprising that some of it can be interchanged. And again, this is only my Unneeded Opinion, but while I believe the game will be out there for 12 years, (assuming the planet doesn’t turn into Hokuto no Ken), the leaks claiming Dendro Element and regions are delayed on purpose, and that miHoYo is stretching it and will take that much time to only finish the Teyvat chapter, are absurd.
Anyways. Despite the massive 1.5 leaks, we might have a lot of surprises in store for the update livestream happening sometime this week. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a new content roadmap announced during the stream, revealing the contents for Ver 1.6 to 1.8. Similarly to the Ver 1.1 to 1.3 roadmap miHoYo published when Genshin Impact released on September 28, 2020.
In any case, as usual when the Chinese livestream happens, I should be translating it live though the official Japanese summary on Twitter, so stay tuned on DualShockers.
