Last month, we reported on a leak that seemed to reveal both the box art and potential release date of Xbox Game Studios’ upcoming release of Gears 5. At the time, we weren’t exactly sure how credible the leak was but now, thanks to official information directly from The Coalition, that rumor is seeming pretty spot-on.
In a new tweet from the official Gears of War Twitter account today, a message was shared to build anticipation towards Microsoft’s E3 2019 briefing which is taking place on Sunday, June 9. Along with the message, a new piece of key art was also shared in the tweet which is identical to the box art leak that we saw last month. Essentially, this seems to confirm that the box art that we have previously seen is indeed going to be real.
Going one step further though, if that leaked box art that we saw last month has now turned out to be official, then it also bodes well that the release date we heard of might be real, too. The release date that was divulged in the previous leak stated that Gears 5 would be out later this year on September 10, 2019. While we still don’t know for certain whether or not that will end up being true, it’s seeming much more likely at this point.
Regardless of what the official release date is though, we’ll certainly find out one way or another this weekend during Microsoft’s showcase. We’ll share the official news with you at that time once we hear more directly about Gears 5.
