Yesterday it was announced that Fortnite would be getting a brand new gamemode called Close Encounters, but if you were one of the fans looking forward to it then we have some bad news for you. While the limited-time mode went up earlier this morning, developer Epic Games pulled it after only around 30 minutes or so, leaving fans pretty upset.
While they didn’t specify what exactly was the problem, they did say that some sort of “issue” was affecting the gamemode on Twitter, which resulted in them having to take it down. In order to make up the loss of a brand new gamemode, Epic did reactivate the Solid Gold event, which has been going on for the past week now.
For those that don’t know, the Close Encounters game mode acts similarly to the Solid Gold mode, except for the fact that only Jetpacks and Heavy Shotguns are spawned in chests. As of the time of this writing, there’s no telling when the mode will be enabled, but lets just hope it’s not a similar delay to the Jetpacks.
Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, as well as iOS and Android devices.
Due to an issue with Close Encounters, we’ve had to disable this LTM while we investigate. 🔎
In the meantime, we’ve enabled Solid Gold. 🥇
