Intelligent Systems will be hosting a “Fire Emblem Expo” in May of next year. Unfortunately, the event will be exclusive to Japan and as of right now we know very little about what will be shown or potentially revealed. The expo will be hosted at a venue in Tokyo.
There’s nothing that’s indicative of heavy involvement from Nintendo with this event and the teaser website doesn’t really give much info at all. However, we do know that the next mainline game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch sometime in the spring of next year. This event does line up with that timeframe so maybe we’ll learn more about the game.
It could just be wishful thinking. Nintendo isn’t known for showing much about their upcoming titles outside of Nintendo Direct broadcasts, especially considering the newfound success of the series overseas in recent years since the release of Fire Emblem: Awakening on Nintendo 3DS. More information is coming about the expo on December 8 at the series’ trading card game event.
Whether or not the event focuses on Three Houses — there’s still a hefty amount of titles on Nintendo 3DS to make the wait for spring a little easier. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is the latest and it’s a remake of Fire Emblem: Gaiden, which was only available on the NES in Japan. Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fates are also both available on Nintendo 3DS and they tell entirely new stories in the game’s universe.
