Final Fantasy VII Remake Confirmed by Square Enix to Still Release in Multiple Parts

Final Fantasy VII Remake, News, Originals, PS4, Square Enix

Up until yesterday’s re-reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake during PlayStation’s State of Play stream, we hadn’t seen the game since all the way back in 2015. Since that time, development of the project has changed drastically with Square Enix eventually opting to move CyberConnect2 off of the game and instead work on it internally. As such, many details of Final Fantasy VII Remake that were previously revealed were left somewhat left in question as silence for the game grew over the years.

Well, as of now, one thing that we do know for certain is that Final Fantasy VII Remake will still be releasing in multiple parts, much like Square said it would years back. This information was divulged on Square’s official Japanese website via a press release after the new Final Fantasy VII Remake video went live.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is a full remake heading to PS4,” the message on Square’s website stated via our own translation. “Most of the original’s content is being reworked, and as such the game will be in multiple parts. More information will be published this June, so stay tuned.”

Considering that most of the footage that we have seen from Final Fantasy VII Remake so far comes from the early stages of the game, this really isn’t all that shocking. Still, there are many questions left to be answered with this staggered release for the full Final Fantasy VII Remake experience. Most notably, how many parts in total will there be? How long will it take for them all to release? And assuming next-generation platforms arrive before all parts of Final Fantasy VII Remake have released, will those future “episodes” then release on PlayStation’s coming hardware?

We’re set to learn more about Final Fantasy VII Remake next month (likely at E3) so hopefully more of these lingering questions will be answered come that time. As for now, the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake doesn’t have a release window but it’s set to come exclusively to PS4.
