Recently, we reported that Square Enix was planning to begin charging those who had purchased the 1st Class Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake for their orders this week. Now, that timeline has been pushed back.
In a new email that has been sent out to purchasers of the 1st Class Edition, Square said that it is now extending the date in which orders will be charged for this version of the game. Rather than charges going through on what was planned to be today, December 4, Square said that those who pre-ordered this version of Final Fantasy VII Remake won’t be charged until January 22, 2020. A reminder of this new payment date will also be sent out once again next month on January 20.
As Square themselves pointed out last week, the reason that it wanted to charge purchasers so early for their orders was to ensure that the 1st Class Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake arrived on time for everyone who buys it. In the past, other collector’s editions that have been purchased through the Square Enix Store have shown up late to purchasers because of when the payment was finally processed. Clearly though, Square had a change of heart and decided that they could still get orders out in time for release by charging buyers in January rather than December. I know that our own Cameron Hawkins is surely happy about this move.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to release next year on March 3, 2020. If you have the 1st Class Edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake pre-ordered, you can also pay it off in the Square Enix Store whenever you’d like rather than waiting for the automatic debit to process.
