The biggest Call of Duty tournament of 2018 came to a close yesterday as America’s Evil Geniuses dominated over the competition. This year’s Evil Geniuses team consisted of Adam “Assault” Garcia, Patrick “Aches” Price, Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov, and Justin “Silly” Fargo-Palmer with Aches and Apathy earning the second Call of Duty Champion rings of their careers.
The competition tough at these year’s event was played on the latest installment in the franchise Call of Duty: WWII which sees the series return to its Second World War roots. Evil Geniuses put up a dominant performance after emerging from the pools as they swept Team Vitality and Lightning Pandas consecutively with 3-0 victories in the winners’ bracket. Team Envy also conceded to Evil Geniuses playstyle as they suffered a 3-2 defeat, forcing them into the losers bracket where they would go on to be eliminated by FaZe Clan just outside of the Top 4.
Veteran competitive Call of Duty outfit Team Kaliber was forced into the losers bracket by Evil Geniuses during the semi-finals. From there they beat FaZe Clan 3-2 to earn a rematch with Evil Geniuses in the grand finals. The first round saw Team Kaliber inch by with a 3-2 victory to reset the bracket. From here though, it seemed the Evil Geniuses side had collected themselves as they scored a runaway 3-0 win to claim the title of Call of Duty World League Champions 2018.
Call of Duty: WWII is out now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. There is also still time to get into its lighthearted Days of Summer event. For those interested in the upcoming installment, the beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode Blackout will be live on September 10.
