Releasing numerous titles across consoles, PC, mobile, and more, EA has always been committed to expanding its reach of games across different audiences and playerbases. While the publisher is beginning to embrace next-gen with the PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside its recent decision to bring its titles back to Steam, EA is continuing to expand the availability of its games on different platforms. Notably, the Nintendo Switch is an area that the publisher seems intent on bringing more titles to in the near future, according to recent news at EA Play that the studio has more games planned for the Switch.
During EA Play Live 2020, the publisher confirmed as part of its new reveals and announcements that it has at least 7 new Switch games lined up to release within the next 12 months. At the moment, two of these titles are already known: so far that includes Burnout Paradise Remastered (which launches tomorrow, June 19) and Apex Legends, which was confirmed at EA Play to be coming to Switch later this year. Presumably this will also include FIFA 21, which was confirmed to be coming to the Switch, albeit as a “Legacy Edition” that mainly features a roster update from previous iterations of the game.
That would leave us with 4-5 other games (depending on if FIFA is counted) to expect over the next 12 months coming to Switch. At the moment it’s unclear whether any of the new titles that were revealed at EA Play Live 2020 will make their way to Switch, such as new EA Originals like Lost in Random and It Takes Two. However, the news at least shows that EA is committing to further support on the Nintendo Switch for the future, whether that will be remastered versions of previous titles or new games entirely.
