Dragon Quest Heroes Director Tomohiko Sho spoke about the possibility of a Dragon Quest Heroes III during a recent interview. Sho starts off by stating that “Obviously this is a Square Enix property so we can’t really say anything, but I have kind of mentioned to them before, ‘Shouldn’t we consider a third entry?’”
From there he continued on about the quality upgrade between the first two entries and how that’s related to getting a sequel: “So we’ve been talking a little about maybe putting out a third entry, but really the big thing is between I and II there were so many improvements made. If we were going to go from II to III, what else can we put in to really impress the players who played both games that will get them really excited and really emotionally moved by it? So there are a lot of hurdles. What would it be that we can put into the game? That’s still something we’re not sure how to do yet.”
It is tough to say what could be added, as the second title in the spin-off franchise is so well crafted with tons of quality of life changes over the first game. Hopefully the director and dev team can figure that out and give us one last foray into the excellent side series.
Dragon Quest Heroes II released for Nintendo Switch back in 2017 after releasing for Ps4 and PC in the same year.
