Bandai Namco announced that Doraemon Story of Seasons will be coming west in Autumn 2019 on Switch and PC. No surprise there considering how big Doraemon is worldwide. Story of Seasons is far from being a niche franchise as well. Meanwhile, the game will launch in Japan only in a few weeks, on June 13, exclusively on Switch.
Doraemon Story of Seasons has the characters of Doraemon thrown into another world, and protagonist Noby starts taking care of a farm. The game has everything which makes the Story of Seasons franchise so beloved from farming, raising animals, fishing and bug hunting. All the usual tools of the franchise are also replaced by Doraemon’s secret gadgets that players will need to find by completing various tasks, like befriending villagers.
Doraemon Story of Seasons is developed by Studio Brownies, the independent studio behind Fantasy Life on Nintendo 3DS. The studio is led by Shinichi Kameoka, who is known for the art of the Mana/Seiken Densetsu JRPG series. His distinctive art and character design on Legend of Mana especially makes it one of the most beautiful 2D games ever.
Marvelous already confirmed that another Story of Seasons game for consoles is currently in development. The Rune Factory series is also coming back with Rune Factory 4 Special and Rune Factory 5, both coming for Switch.
