The next Destiny 2 expansion is called Beyond Light and will launch on September 22, 2020. This date may not be too much of a surprise as it was leaked earlier today.
During the livestream, Destiny 2 general manager and game director Mark Noseworthy and Luke Smith discussed the future of the game which began with the aforementioned expansion, Beyond Light. Smith mentions that this expansion is a brand new era for the game as the Stranger’s story is now finished. It features Europa, the birthplace of the Exo, and another pyramid ship.
You’ll face Aramis, a warrior who wields a “brand new power that was born from ancient darkness,” as Smith describes. You will have to face Aramis and her empire on the frozen moon of Europa.
Personally, as I said in the linked post above, I’m always looking for an excuse to go back to the world of Destiny. Typically, that is when a big expansion comes out, like Shadowkeep or Forsaken. From what I saw of Beyond Light, including the new frosty Europa zone, I’ll jump back in to check out how Bungie manages to expand its universe.
If you want to begin your career as a Guardian now, Destiny 2 is available for free on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Stadia. Bungie also confirmed its loot shooter will release on next-gen consoles, both the Xbox Series X and the PS5.
