Phoenix Labs’ free-to-play action hunting game has officially gone live on Xbox One, PS4, and PC via the Epic Games Store. You can check out the new launch trailer below.
The development team has announced that players will be able to hunt with others across all of the previously mentioned platforms. Furthermore, Dauntless will allow cross-progression between platforms, meaning you can safely make purchases and level up your character with one account.
To coincide with the launch the game’s next seasonal pass has also been made available, giving both veterans and newcomers cosmetic gear and premium currency to work towards. This will be the first time players on Xbox One and PS4 can jump in. Hopefully, the cross-play and cross-progression Phoenix Labs has achieved will be observed across the industry and more developers follow their lead.
As for DualShockers’ coverage of Dauntless, we’ll be releasing our review of the game later this week. I have a lot of experience with the open beta but ultimately still feel like I need more time to dive into the newer mechanics that have been added. If you’d like to read my latest impression of Dauntless, you can check out my preview and interview with the CEO and Co-founder of Phoenix Labs, Jesse Houston. Just keep in mind that what I’m talking about isn’t the final version of the game.
Dauntless is certainly unique when compared to Capcom’s Monster Hunter, so definitely check it out if you’re looking for your next monster hunting addiction.
