Earlier this year, Phoenix Labs finally released a full version of Dauntless on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A Nintendo Switch version of the game was confirmed, but we didn’t know when it was coming out until today. In fact, it’s out today! Dauntless for Nintendo Switch was stealthily released during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase.
While the Nintendo Switch port of Dauntless is arriving a bit later, it is still fully compatible with the other versions of the game. Via Phoenix Labs’ One Dauntless initiative, Switch players can carry over progress from other platforms and vice versa. Phoenix Labs also confirmed that today marks the game’s launch in Japan across all platforms, and it has the hefty localization to back that up.
Pheonix Labs CEO Jesse Houston is happy to finally get Dauntless on Nintendo Switch, stating “it’s a dream come true for us to offer Slayers the chance to bring Dauntless with them wherever they go with Nintendo Switch. The Switch offers versatility and mobility like no other platform on the market, and with our latest content update and release in Japan, the future is bright for Slayers around the world.”
The other versions of Dauntless aren’t being ignored today either, as a new free update called Stormchasers is also being released. Alongside a new Hunt Pass called Myth & Legend, a roguelike-inspired mode called Escalation has also been added to Dauntless. Escalation tasks players with fighting waves of Behemoths with unique modifiers, Slay the Spire-style. Those who get to the end fourth level will also encounter a new behemoth named Malkarion that can be mounted and features some unique tactics.
No matter what version you are playing, today seems like a good day for Dauntless players. You can check out some new art for the game below. If it interests you, an art book for the game is available on Amazon.
