Bandai Namco released today a brand new batch of screenshots and a trailer of its upcoming Souls-like action-RPG Code Vein.
We get a new reveal for Io. So far she was shown simply as an inhabitant of the main character’s base but looks like she is actually a companion NPC that can follow the hero around and fight by his side.
She is an all-rounder fighter who fights with a large spear. Her abilities focus on supporting the player with HP recovery and curing abnormal statuses. On the other hand, her attack power is average, so the offense is left mostly to the player.
Io uses an “Ivy” type blood veil, which you can see in action in a previous trailer.
We also get to see a new level named “Depths of Death.” On top of that a “Trial of Blood” is activated by touching a red item that can be found in dungeons. Once you activate it, enemies will attack, and overcoming them will grant upgrade materials.
More of the screenshots show the multiplayer features. By sending a signal flare it’s possible to summon another player. It’s also possible to share loot and abilities between players and their NPC companions. Communication is handled via stamps, gestures, and preset voiced lines.
last, but not least, we get a small trailer showing off the boss that was included in the E3 demo. If you want to see more, you can also check out a ton of gameplay from a few days ago.
Code Vein will release in Japan on September 27th, followed by the western release one day later on September 28th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can already pre-order it on Amazon.
