After two teases last week, indie developer The Behemoth confirmed today that the classic brawler Castle Crashers will be coming to PS4 and Switch later this year.
Castle Crashers Remastered, which was originally released on Xbox One back in 2015, is slated to make its arrival on PS4 and Switch this summer according to The Behemoth. The game will run at 60fps compared to the 30fps of the original. All additional DLC and content that came to the OG Castle Crashers will also be available in the remastered version. The Switch version of Castle Crashers Remastered will boast HD Rumble while the PS4 release will see your DualShock 4 light color changing to reflect the color of the character you’re playing as.
The Behemoth says it opted to port Castle Crashers Remastered to PS4 and Switch because it likes the idea of the title sticking around in the public consciousness. Plus, they said that the desire to bring Castle Crashers to a Nintendo platform has been tried for awhile and the Switch in particular just seemed like the best opportunity to do so. Additionally, if you want to play this new remastered version of Castle Crashers on both of these new platforms, they will be available for play next week at PAX East 2019 in Boston.
Lastly, The Behemoth also confirmed that it is in active development on the studio’s fifth title. The appropriately codenamed “Game 5” will have more information revealed from The Behemoth later this year.
Below is a new video also released today looking back at the first ten years of Castle Crashers. Personally, I cannot wait to revisit this gem of a game once again on my own Switch.
