Today, Bethesda Softworks announced that they donated a million dollars to various COVID-19 relief efforts. With much of the world forced into isolation, many forced out of work, and front-line health care workers struggling to acquire the supplies they need, donations like these can do quite a bit to help. Obviously, it’s not going to make the problem go away; however, it will certainly help. Bethesda is donating to several different charities. Read all about it below.

They split the donation into three main groups. The largest portion ($500,000) is being given to Direct Relief. That charity helps provide health care workers to get personal protective equipment that they need to safely do their job. UNICEF, a fund that helps front-line responders around the world, is getting $250,000. And, Bethesda is donating the last $250,000 to local communities where they live and work. With Bethesda and ZeniMax Media being a global company, that encompasses several different areas around the globe.
Many video game companies are doing what they can to provide fans entertainment to help them deal with their isolation. Seeing a company like Bethesda come out with a massive donation like this is great. We’ve also seen things like Humble Bundle raising $6.5 million for COVID-19 relief, showing that gamers both big and small are doing what they can to support various funds.
It will interesting to see if any other mega-publishers do something similar in the coming days. Companies like Electronic Arts have provided fans with tons of things to watch and do, but you have to wonder if they will follow Bethesda’s lead and open their pocketbooks. Either way, this is a commendable move from Bethesda.
