If you’ve been waiting for an update on Bandai Namco’s crossover fighting game Jump Force, you can know you are in good company. In a series of Tweets on National Roast Day, fast food burger restaurant Wendy’s took a jab at the slow roll of updates for Jump Force — only to have their red-headed mascot confirmed.
The PR showdown occurred yesterday when, as part of “National Roast Day,” the now-infamous Wendy’s Twitter account opened up people to Tweet at them for roasts:
It’s go time! You want the roast? Then let’s go! #NationalRoastDay

Bandai Namco, a company that is frequently PR savvy decided to jump in to get roasted. And the topic of that roast was Jump Force:
Thought there was a Jump Force update in our mentions for a second.

All standard fare for the average PR person, but we appreciate the bantz nonetheless.
However, that’s when things took a left turn. Following up from that Tweet, Bandai Namco showed off a gif of seemingly a model of Wendy’s red-haired mascot, Wendy.

While this is all a joke, it was implied it was a Jump Force update. And while entirely crazy, there would most certainly be an audience supporting this–don’t forget that the internet has effectively turned Wendy into a smug anime girl. It isn’t the most unlikely, given that Regardless, this would be the best fast food gaming crossover since the Burger King’s standalone title, Sneak King (which was, by all means, a terrific game).
Though, that isn’t to say that there hasn’t been any substantial news for the fighting game recently — about two weeks ago we saw some brand new gameplay of Deku and Asta from the Black Cover series. And before that? We got brand new screenshots of Midoriya of My Hero Academia.
All things considered, this is a PR boon for Bandai Namco who fell into hot water lately in their fighting scene. Seemingly resolved, many have been concerned on how Dragon Ball FighterZ has recently been getting pulled from tournaments without any stated reason. However, it appears concerns of that have died down with Tekken 7‘s Katsuhiro Harada taking control over the Esports scene.
Jump Force will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on February 15, 2019. If you’d like to pre-order the game you can do so right now over at Amazon (current at 5% off).
