Much like last year, it seems that Fortnite will once again be crossing over with the Avengers to coincide with the release of Avengers Endgame later this week.
Epic Games tweeted out this afternoon a brief message that clearly conveyed that this crossover will be happening, but didn’t further explain how it will take shape. The tweet in question included a picture of a character from Fortnite holding Captain America’s iconic shield along with the statement “Whatever it takes,” which has been uttered in trailers for Avengers Endgame.
Considering what we can see in the image, it seems like there could be a possibility of Avengers-themed skins or items making their way into Fortnite with Cap’s shield perhaps being one of those goodies you might be able to get. Then again, maybe you’ll be able to wield these items directly as weapons instead for a brief time in Fortnite. Utilizing Captain America’s shield or Thor’s hammer could be pretty fun.
It’s also worth noting that previous datamined information has also potentially revealed that Thanos himself could be returning to Fortnite. Last year’s Fortnite and Avengers Infinity War crossover saw the Mad Titan making his way into the game in a limited time mode where you could play as Thanos and wield the Infinity Gauntlet. There could be a chance that this mode, or another like it, might return this week but we’ll have to wait and see.
Whatever this crossover will look like, it seems like it’s slated to kick off on Thursday, April 25, the same day that Avengers Endgame will first hit theaters. We’ll surely learn more from Epic before that time about what to expect from this new event. We will let you know whenever further information is shared.
Fortnite is available now for free on basically every platform around.
Whatever it takes.
