Atomic Heart looks even better with ray-tracing-on in its most recent gameplay trailer that introduces some new hostile creatures as well.
Ray-Tracing is surely one of the greatest technologies in developing video games that changed the look of video games entirely. The technology was important enough that made both Sony and Microsoft include ray-tracing support on their new consoles. More importantly, ray-tracing proved that how realistic reflections can improve the overall look of a game’s visuals. Now, every game that tries to deliver realistic visuals is expected to support ray-tracing, and fortunately, Mundfish’s Atomic Heart is no exception.
As a first-person open-world adventure game with some RPG elements, Atomic Heart invites you to an alternative universe where the Soviet Union survives after World War II and turns into a cutting-edge country when it comes to the robot industry. Almost every facility in the country is controller by robots, and your dangerous journey in the game starts when one of those facilities starts acting weirdly, with humans losing their control over robots. It’s your mission to pay a visit to this massive industrial area and discover why robots have turned rogue.
Featuring both ranged and melee weapons, Atomic Heart offers a diverse combat system where you can craft new items and upgrade your weapons to use them in more useful ways. As previous trailers have revealed so far, robots are your top enemies in the game, however, the new trailer reveals some mutated creatures as well. This probably refers to a new dimension of the game’s setting that might go beyond hostile robots.
Atomic Heart has been in development for nearly three years and targets a 2021 release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The game is being developed by a Russian indie team, Mundfish.
