The upcoming season for Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is hitting all available platforms on February 2, 2021. We’ve already seen a character trailer to introduce Fuse, an Australian with a love for explosions, and one who is voiced by Ben Prendergast. The explosive trailer is available to view below and shares a taste of what to expect from the new season.
The trailer kicks itself of by being set to the style of an old-school action movie trailer, with a 4:3 ratio, awful quality, and a dramatic voiceover voice. Oh, and some terrible looking 3D titles. But it’s all good fun and fits the theme! You’ll also learn that Fuse’s name is Walter Fitzroy if you’re into that level of lore.
I’ve gotta say, his finishers look pretty badass, and he really gives off the feeling of a true action-hero. I assume there’ll be a lot of badass one-liners to go with his character as well.
There’s a new weapon entering the arena through Season 8 of Apex Legends, this one being a 30-30 Repeater, a rifle with only 3 rounds at a time but looks pretty devastating if aimed well. Gold Magazines are also added to the game. This attachment for weapons allows more ammunition to be loaded into your weapon. there’s also a peek at Fuse’s special weapon that fires an explosive in the air, raining down fire around the targeted area.
In addition, the Kings Canyon arena has had a makeover if you can call it that. You can expect to see ECHO (Ecological Cleanup and Hazard Outreach) camps, Explosive Holds, Observation Towers, and more being scattered across the map. The Crash Site also introduces a new area to the map by having a large gunship opening up an entirely new area for gunfights to take place in. More information about the changes to the map has been detailed in a blog post.
Player’s will also be able to pick up a brand-new Battle Pass that features a range of actiony-looking skins. This includes skins for characters and weapons.
While the character seems to be getting fans ablaze with excitement, Respawn Entertainment faced some accusations last week that saw the developer accused of copying the character design of a game called BulletVille. There was also information regarding a Nintendo Switch port of the game being leaked, but any mentions were quickly removed.
Apex Legends is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and potentially Nintendo Switch when the new season drops.
