Koei Tecmo is certainly at the top of its game about the ancient art of nickel and dime, and today they announced an extensive DLC plan for Atelier Lydie & Suelle: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting.
We should keep in mind that this is only for Japan for now, so we don’t know whether the same schedule and pricing will extend to the west when the game will release for PS4, Switch and PC on March 30th in Europe and March 27th in North America.
First of all, there will be a free update numbered 1.01 which will raise the level cap for characters from 50 to 100 and will include new skills for several playable characters.
The first two DLC will also be free, delivered on February 1st. We’ll get a background music pack with tracks from previous Atelier games, and one with music from other Gust games. This is also the day in which the season pass will go on sale in Japan, priced at 8,800 yen. which is just south of $80.
Starting on February 22nd (with following drops on March 8th, and March 22nd), Koei Tecmo will release 24 DLC packages, of which six will be free.
Those who don’t want to spend a dime will get new item features, a rare item pack, a rare item merchant, new character-related events, a fight against Falgiol, and a “skill test” fight against legendary alchemist Sophie Neuenmuller.
Paid packages range from 100 yen to 1,200 yen and include two new playable characters (Lucia Voltaire and Ilmeria Von Leinweber), crossover levels and new music from Nights of Azure 2, Blue Reflection, and Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, new alchemy recipes and battle mix recipes, new quests, and inevitable costumes including swimsuits.
Again, Koei Tecmo America and Europe have not yet announced their DLC plans, so, for now, this is limited to Japan. That being said, Blue Reflection did get a $79.99 season pass in the west as well.
