Even though Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite had an underwhelming launch back in September, Capcom has been supporting the game with a steady string of DLC and update. Six post-launch DLC characters were promised before the title released, and so far, we have gotten three of them: Sigma, Black Panther, and Monster Hunter. Today, we finally got a gameplay trailer showing off the next three, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Venom, and confirmation that they will all be releasing on December 5.
The Winter Soldier, whose real name is Bucky Barnes, was a former friend of Captain America’s who was presumed dead but turned into a deadly super soldier. When it comes to gameplay, Winter Soldier specializes in ground combat. He can also use his cybernetic arm to activate Metal Shield, which allows him to not take damage from attacks, at the cost of a limited moveset. Clearly, this will open up some interesting situations if used at the right time to dodge a powerful attack.
Meanwhile, Black Widow is a former Super Spy who wound up joining the Avengers. In the world of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, she fights to protect the people from Ultron Sigma’s influence. Black Widow takes advantage of a variety of gadgets in battles like sticky bombs and nerve gas in order to put her opponents at a disadvantage. She also has the ability to perform many evasive maneuvers, making her hard to hit during a fight.
While Winter Soldier and Black Widow are brand new characters, Venom returns for the first time since Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Eddie Brock is a former journalist who blames Spider-Man for ruining his career and bonded with a malicious symbiotic alien to become a force to be reckoned with. In Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, Venom retains some of his classic moves, though his playstyle has become even more aggressive. Venom can now also use his Venom Glide to web zip in six different directions when needed.
All three characters are available through the 2017 Character Pass and have alternate costumes, which are pictured below. For those still hesitant about Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, a free weekend is being held for the game on PS4 from November 24 at 8am PST to November 27 at 8am PST so players can try out the game’s multiplayer mode.
