Anyone who has picked up Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch already knows about the notably long save times. How long? Typical save speeds clock in at under 25 seconds. However, a new tweet from Stardew Valley publisher Chucklefish LTD shows off enhanced save times.
As seen in the tweet below, there are two Nintendo Switch units — one being a retail version (Neon Joy-Cons) and the other being the development kit (Gray Joy-Cons). While the regular version of the game takes roughly 25 seconds to finish saving, the new updated version takes a mere 17 seconds. Sure, 17 seconds is still a notably long time (especially for an indie game as bare bones as Stardew Valley) but I will never balk at a 32% cut in waiting for any game.
Of note, the new update will also target some running issues that are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version. For instance, the Switch version of Stardew Valley has suffered some sound crackling issues as well as a crashing problem affecting a limited amount of copies.
With that said, we still don’t know when Stardew Valley‘s updates — and the above-mentioned fixes — will be available to everyone. The game is currently available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Check out the video comparing loading times, below:
