With the new addition of classic Bethesda games on Xbox Game Pass Microsoft announced that older games now support frame rate boosts.

Frame rate has been something of a hot topic in recent months as the newest generation of consoles are able to provide higher frame rates than those of the last gen.

Lucky for those of us who enjoy a smoother experience, Xbox announced in a tweet today that “FPS Boost now doubles frame rates for some Bethesda favorites on the Xbox Series X|S.”

How to Turn FPS Boost On

Turning FPS Boost on is really simple and just takes a little bit of menu navigation. Here’s a walkthrough on how to do it:

  1. Open the Xbox menu by pushing the Xbox button in the center of your controller.
  2. Select the game you want a frame rate boost in under the “My Games & Apps” tab.
  3. Click “Manage game and add-ons.”
  4. Move your cursor to the “Compatibility options” button on the left and select it.
  5. Scroll down and check the box next to “FPS Boost.”
  6. Go right back to your game and appreciate the extra frames.

How to Turn FPS Boost Off

Turning the boost off on the other hand is just as simple and easy as turning it on. To do so, just follow the steps above and make sure that the “FPS Boost” box is unchecked and you should be good to enjoy those games how they were originally presented.
