When Square Enix revealed its new game Antique Carnevale without announcing the platforms, everyone thought that it was a mobile game. The good news is that it isn’t (at least not entirely), but the bad news is that it’s a browser game.
I can hear you groan from here.
The game actually suddenly released today, available on the new Japanese browser game platform Yahoo! Games Plus. It’s free-to-play with in-app purchases.
As the hints we got over the past two weeks teased, it’s a mix between a JRPG and a board game, specifically taking elements from Chess and Reversi. It’s playable via the web browser on PC, Mac, iOS and Android, and you can enjoy it here.
The player (which fills the role of the master) and his summoners can summon various characters that serve as playable pieces, and are used to battle it out board-game style.
If you want to see what the game looks like, Square Enix released a launch trailer and screenshots, and you can see them below. In case you missed them, we also got a few character trailers over the past couple of weeks, and you can watch the trailer introducing Bernhard, the clip revealing Elena, the video announcing Thomas, the one showing May, and the last one showcasing Amelia.
