Wargroove is Chucklefish’s answer to “why don’t people make more Advance Wars-style games?” It turns out that, those kinds of games are still great and Wargroove was very well-received at launch. Of course, the game wasn’t perfect and the devs addressed most of those concerns through free updates. And now, they’re going to do players one better and give everyone a free DLC pack. Check out Wargroove: Double Trouble below.
Wargroove: Double Trouble adds a brand-new, coop-enabled story campaign for players to battle through. Either you or your buddy will take over as leaders of a new faction of Outlaws that come complete with their own set of commanders. Personally, I’ll be fighting my partner hard to be the leader of the Viking-like Outlaws as we fight through their frigid homeland. The new commanders also have a few new units at their disposal, which should open up new in-battle opportunities new and veteran players can make use of.
Double Trouble also adds some new arcade missions, competitive Quick Play maps, and, most importantly, public and private lobbies. This will make it even easier for battle-hungry players to find worthy challengers to play against. Double Trouble sounds like an excellent package. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised it’s all coming for free. Not that I’m going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I think I’d happily pay up to $10 for this content. Good on Chucklefish.
Wargoove: Double Trouble will launch for free on February 6. The base game is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. I highly recommend you check it out if you’re an Advance Wars fan or just Advance Wars curious.
