Arc Systems Works has revealed some new information on Kill la Kill the Game: IF‘s Story and Battle Modes, as well as added some new character profiles on the game’s website.
In Story Mode the player will control Satsuki Kiryuin, the antagonist for the first half of the Kill la Kill anime. She is the student council president over Honnouji Academy and wields the Bakuzan blade. This is an alternate “IF” story, the game will branch off from the anime’s eighth episode with all of the new scenarios supervised by Kazuki Nakashima, the original scenario-writer of Kill la Kill. This branching off occurs at the end of the Honnouji Academy’s Naturals Election where Satsuki’s mother, Ragyo Kiryuin appears earlier than in the anime version.
At the end of the Honnouji Academy’s Naturals Election, the one who appeared before Satsuki is not Nui, but Ragyo!? What is the reason for Ragyo’s sudden
appearance? What is going on with all the strange phenomenons that has been occurring? An alternate “IF” story, branching out from the original series 8th episode!!
Ragyo is the President of Honnouji Academy and the CEO of Revocs, with Nui Harime as the Grand Courturier or Revocs and claims to have murdered Ryuko Matoi’s father which is the catalyst for the anime series. Both characters have been added to the cast on the website with their own portraits and brief descriptions introducing them. This difference between the game and anime’s storylines allows Arc Systems Works to diverge from the anime instead of retelling the story players may already know.
In addition to the Story Mode there are multiple Battle Modes in Kill la Kill the Game: IF that are purely gameplay driven, which are detailed below:
