Following in the footsteps of World of Warcraft Classic, Daybreak Games will be rolling back the clock on The Lord of the Rings Online with a Legendary Server that reinstates the 2007 version of the game. This server will see players creating brand new characters and bring them through the very beginning of the game up to the end of the Angmar story line.
We are excited to announce a new way to experience The Lord of the Rings Online: Legendary Server! Relive the tales of Middle-earth, chapter by chapter, visiting iconic locations and adventuring with new friends – or reconnecting with old ones – on the path of Frodo, Gandalf, and the Fellowship of the Ring.
This Legendary Server will launch with only Level 50 and below content, though the level cap and story content will unlock over time, re-introducing the Mines of Moria, Allies of the King, Strength of Sauron, and other, more recent, additions. Access to this Legendary Server will require VIP subscribers ($14.99 a month). Characters cannot be transferred between standard and Legendary servers, that is until the Legendary server catches up to the current timeline of content. All current races/classes will be available to use in the Legendary Server, and many of the quality of life improvements made to the game since launch will be included. A full FAQ can be found on The Lord of the Rings Online website.
The Lord of the Rings Online is a free-to-play MMO that launched in April of 2007 and was developed and published by Turbine (which became WB Games Boston and developers of the often forgotten Infinite Crisis DC MOBA), and exchanged hands to Daybreak Games in late 2016.
