Nicalis revealed this morning that the StarQuail Games developed action platformer Tiny Barbarian DX will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 10, physically and digitally.
Tiny Barbarian DX is a 2D action platformer that has simple controls with difficult levels and lots of retro style action. “I’m not saying I hate tutorials in video games,” says designer Michael Stearns, “but this game starts out by telling you the functions of two buttons and then sets you on a mountain surrounded by enemies where you will surely die.”
The game shows off pixel-art designs reminiscent of other classic retro platformers, but adds its own unique touch. Such as, an occasional transparency effect to the levels and the soundtrack having more instruments than what was allowed on a Nintendo cartridge.
Tiny Barbarian DX was originally released in 2013 for PC, players must navigate through multiple levels in which they will encounter their fair share of difficult enemies, but no worries they’ll be equipped with a sword. It currently holds a “Very Positive” review standing on the Steam platform from users.
The first physical run on Tiny Barbarian DX, which recently showed off it’s cover art by Famitsu artist Susumu Matsushita, will have a full-color instruction booklet and a PVC keychain of the Tiny Barbarian in a microfiber pouch.
